Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour: This forms the base of your cookie dough giving it structure.
  • Granulated Sugar: Adds sweetness; allows cookies to be crispy.
  • Brown Sugar: This provides moisture and chewiness thanks to its molasses content.
  • Unsalted Butter: Using room temperature butter ensures proper creaming with the sugars leading to a fluffy dough.
  • Eggs: They bind ingredients and add richness.
  • Baking Soda: This leavening agent helps the cookies rise and gives them a soft texture.
  • Vanilla Extract: A splash of vanilla enhances the flavor profile of your cookies.
  • Chocolate Chips: The star of the show! Semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips work wonderfully.

Optional Add-ins

  • Nuts: Chopped walnuts or pecans lend a nice crunch to it.
  • Sea Salt: A sprinkle on top before baking elevates the flavor.
  • Oats: For a heartier cookie you can add rolled oats for extra texture.
  • Alternative Sweeteners: If you're looking for a healthier option consider coconut sugar or honey as substitutes.

Instructions

Preheat & Prepare:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

Make the Dough:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips evenly.

Bake the Cookies:

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough (about 1.5 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the center is still soft.

Cool & Serve:

  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  • Serve warm or store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
